THE COMPETITIONS.
(To the Editor ot the Herald..
Sir,— ln your issue of the 14th inst., "Staunch Supporter" draws attention to a seeming discrepancy m the piano tests as set forth m the schedule of the forthcoming competitions. The schedule provides four divisions m the piano solo section, viz., under 12, under 15, under 18, and open (amateurs). Tlie committee ponsiclered that, for the first year, these four divisions would be suflicient. It is too late to make any alterations m this schedule, but the suggestion made by "Staunch Supporter" that a further division open to competitors tnlder 21 or under 25 be included, will have the consideration of the committee when' the next schedule is being drawn up. 1 have to thank "Staunch Supporter" for his interest m the competitions. — I am, etc., FRED. K. BALL,
Hon. Sec. Competitions Society
