Mr W. D. S. Mac Donald, after spending several days m Opotiki, where he received deputations from the Borough Council and County Council, arrived at Whakatane on Saturday morning, tind officially opened the Taneatua bridge m the afternoon, m the presence of a large gathering of settlers. Afterwards, at a reunion of old settlers, he delivered an address, dealing principally with the native land question and the financial position. He will deliver an address at Whakatane to-night, and proceeds to Te Puke to-morrow en route for Wellington.
