BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.

• Sir, — Mrs Graham, m her reply to my previous letter, does not give the simple, though telling facts I asked for. The Convention (March) number of the White Ribbon ', the official organ of the W.C.T.U., gives the number qf NewZealand members as 3144 (page 19). The number of delegates to the convention was 68, representing,, the same number of branches, tho total number of members thus represented being 2377 (pages 56 to 58). Tho foregoing figures show plainly that the convention was very representative of the whole body of the New Zealand W.C.T.U., The resolution against the Bible ip State Schools League- passed m the convention was unanimous, go tho objections brought forward . to the platform of the League must have been weighty, every delegate to such a convention being most probably in s favor of Bible teaching m some form m our public schools. Evidently, from what Mrs Graham tells us, there exists strong difference of opinion on this ; subject within the union, md apparently they are ? not such a happy family <as, outsiders have given them, credit for. From feporta-that. havo appeared m various papers m the Dominion suggestions of withdrawal from the .ranks, of sojne of the members -have ever) been made and serious, trouble threatened m the union— another argument perhaps against ' introducing this subject into our schools.. Mrs Graham at the end of her letter states that as far as she is concerned the correspondence is closed, and as she evaded the few facts which I have now supplied, I also agree that further correspondence would be useless. — I am, etc., CAUTION.
