' DUNEDIN, last night, Advice has been received by** the •police from the Union Company that tlie American:; Consul at Papeete is*- "making inquiries Concerning Mis-i Nellie Donohue, or Donaghue, who left Dunedin by the Moerald on March 26 for Wellington, where she joined thesAprangi for San Francisco. She M*as accompanied by a girl about two years old, who is said to havo been abandoned m Papeete.
The police have been unable to ascertain if the woman was a resident oi Dunedin. The fare from Dunedin to 'Frisco was paid by a man giving m the latter town, and the child' was carried free.
