The Taranaki Chamber of Commerce has passed a resolution protesting against any shipping company or employer of labor entering into any compact which may prevent free : labor being employed if the necessity arises, and considering that any such agreement ivill be prejudicial to the interests of the Dominion.
DUNEDIN, this day. After keen discussion by the South Island' Dairy Association, a motion to transfer the headquarters from Dunedin to Inveroargill was withdrawn. Mr Cuddie, Dairy Commissioner, recommended that in view of the fact the cheese exhibits at the show were so excellent that they be sent Home, in order to impress the English merchants as to the quality and finish of the cheese that New Zealand can produce under favorable conditions. He could not commit the Government to any expenditure in the matter, but he believed the Cabinet Avould favorably consider that phase. It was resolved to send the cheese under the care of- the High Commissioner.
