AUCKLAND, this day. The Auckland Licensing Committee Licensed Victuallers' Association complained that certain . hotels m the city were conducted by persons having no proprietary interest.' This was inimical to the prpper carrying on of the trade, ami involved unfair cfimpetition with licensees having proprietary interests m hotels, and handicapped them. Mr Cutten, S.M., said the committee could, not take any action m the matter as the committee was purely a judicial body. He allowed Mr Earl, solicitor, to make a reply to the complaint. Mr Earl said that there were only four "managed" hotels m Auckland, the City, Central, Waverley, and Grand. He cited the Jatter as conserving the public interest.
