INTOXICATED FIREMEN.
OTTAWA, May 28. A remarkable occurrence is reported m connection with a fire at Toronto. Six of the firemen who were engaged m fighting the flames became intoxicated, and from no other cause than through their inhaling the fumes emitted from the burning shavings of some case wood that was saturated with alcohol. . The symptoms they manifested were almost precisely similar to those of a man who had been ■ drinking heavily. They lost control of their legs, and suffered severely m their heads. Some of the men began to retch, but all eventually recovered.
