I STATE OF THE SEA. ] Rough seas were reported at Cape Maria, Manukau Heads, and New Ply- j mouth, heavy at Kaipara, considerable at Greymouth, heavy southerly swell at: Cape Palliser, heavy easterly swell* at Oamaru, moderate seas 'at Russell, Hoki-j anga, and Tiritiri, moderate swell at" Cape Campbell, Farewell Spit, and Westport. smooth at Gisborne. Napier, Wanganui, and Bluff. WEATHER FORECAST. The report issued last night stated:— "Present indications are for unsettled, cold, and showery weather; strong south ! and south-easterly winds will probably prevail. Tne barometer is very unsteady, but should soon rise everywhere andj prove high m the south for a short time." To-day's forecast states: "Westerly moderate to strong prevailing. Weather probably cool and changeable. The night will probably be very cold, with frosts inland. Barometer unsteady. Tides good; sea moderate swell off shore."
