What is probably the most munificent tip ever bestowed has been received by Mr E. T. D. Hodges, ' manager of the traffic department of the Waldorf hotel, m New York. The donor is a rich steel manufacturer of Pittsburg, who (a New York correspondent says) sent a cheque of £5000 to be banked as a trust fund for Mr Hodges', baby girl Josephine. Mr Hodges stated that for tAvelve or fourteen years he had looked after the Pittsburger's baggage when he was m New York, bought his steamship tickets, and looked after his mail. In all this time.
