THE MOTOR CAR SMASH.
(Per Press Association.) HELENSVILLE, this day. At the inquesti on the body of Mrs Frank Gordon this ■ riiorninjr, Dr. Meinhold stated that death was due to a broken neck, and must have been in stantaneous. The inquiry was adjourn'ed until Monday. The jury visited the scene of the accident, and found that a high hedge along the road and a dip in the road made it absolutely impossible to see the railway line until the vehicle was right on it. Mr Hill, who was driving the car, states that he did not know there was a crossing at this point, nor did he hear the engine whistle. There is ample evidence, however, that the whistile was blown, but the high wind, added to the noise of the motor car, evidently prevented the occupants' of the car from hearing it. Mrs Dudley Hill is able to get about again, but it will probably be some time before Mr Hill and Mr Tanner are convalescent. The former has two ribs broken. He was severely cut and bruised about the head, face, and body. Mr Tanner had his knee fractured, besides being badly cut and bruised.
