This is about 10 minutes better than the existing record. E. AVall, of Halswell (Bnun.), secured the second fastest time, sb. 22m. 275. H. G. Cook, who rode m fhe race for tlie first time, finished just behind the winner. He said that the- ride was tough and the roads m tpatches were pretty- bad. it was necessary to pick the way carefully 1 . . ! "It was too solid for me in 'the -first half," was tbe remark of F. J. Prebble, who finished third, "but I stuck to them. The roads were pretty good and the race pretty, solid." •H. G. Henderson (Wanganui), the fastest rider, has been riding for eight years, and last year he obtained the third fastest time. In 1910 he had punctures, and his chance was spoilt. Speaking of the ride, he said the roads were just as good as m previous years, though m places awkward. He had two spills— one bad one dfter passing Geraldine, when lie fell over McTeigue. His time was sh. 20m. 315., breaking tbe 1910 record.
