LONDON, Sept. 18. The Pacifiq Cable Board, instead of duplicating its cable, as it contemplated doing, is considering Whether it would not be more advantageous to increase the efficiency of i*it9; existing service by means of ah installation "of wireless telegraphy, using the high-power system. The board has sought the opinions of experts with regard, to the .proposed change, and tlie advice it lias received is thia't the -present cable, supplemented by wireless, will provide the, best service for £he future. Negotiations are now m progress between the board and the American cable companies with a view to having the rate on press messages to Australia reduced to 7|d a word.
