CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The ferry steamer Mararoa had ! a rough passage down, and arrived at about noon at Lyttelton. On the voyage a passenger. Mrs Harriet Olliver, a resident of Duned^n, died. She had been on a, visit to the North Island, and was m failing health. Crossing the Straits she became very ill, and collapsed a lew hours later.
GORE, this day. The body of the man Field, who left Ms home at Waiwera South on Sunday for Pomahaka Downs, was found m the Pomahaka river last evening. DUNEDIN, this day. Replying to the Education Commissioner's request asking information concerning small schools m Otago which might be consolidated, the Otago Board decided not to name any small primary schools which could be absorbed with economy and greater efficiency. , ,
