ELECTRIC LIGHT.
(To ' thrf EdftS* ? Ibl' the ' herald.)
Sir,— Kindly allow ' me space m your columns as I wish, to.give'a little statement i about, the .rating ; pf ; ; the electric light. Readers 'wni'fi'nd'ii'QiJt for themselves that the statements are correct. Now, for instance, according to the present rating, when two men « use 30 units each per month, one pays 18s 9d and the other 8s 9d, so you see that one pays 10s more than the other per month, and both using, the same amount of current, so who can say that this is a fair thing? So I think the right thing is that everybody should . p%i Ijhe same according to the current used, so it does not matter how many lights t|hey have m the.,. house, I suppose readers will understand how this rating comes the way stated ; • 8d is charged for the first 3 units per 100. icandlei 'power and 3d per unit following. -I unfortunately happen to have many lights m my house, and many , l am not* (using,, which I. had fitted out for future conveniences and special, purposes, and : got all fittings done at once while, they, were, about, it. 1 wanted to pass this affair, before dhe Council, m Seeing s the Mayor, I asked him if I could, but he declined. I saw the Engineer, and he , told me,\to go. to the Electric Engineer, and doing so told me that I had better pub, the gas on to my place. After paying £50 for the electric fittings it is not very nice U pay thafa sum and have it all dormant and then to pay for gas fittings again. So you see thai .this is no justice. T this affair was run. by a firm a man would have a show to get justice .then* Hoping thai} ratepayers will take it up, I saw a Councillor, and he told me that tho Council know nothing about the rating, that it m'os left m the hands of the Electrical Engineers. I am, etc. P, A, JOHANSGN.
