STAR OF CANADA.
SIDE BADLY RIPPED. The divers are continuing their inspection of the Star of Canada, anditris i officially stated that the side of the I vessel is badly ripped m places. This i discoverey has "no doubt been made possible by tbe Kst that th* vessel has to port, because when the divers first Avent down nothing amiss with tho hull Avas ascertained. This afternoon the diver was inspecting No. 2 hold. The special hatch which is being made for the purpose of confining tho water m the* loAver deck of No. 2 hold is nearing completion. The jettisoning of the#grain from No. 3 bold is proceeding ,a.s rapidly as possible,- a largo proportion of the 18,000 sacks having already b.cn dumped overboard: Yesterday- tha .TeraAvhiti connected up one of her pumps to No. 3 hold,, and the pulsometer was also installed to assist m coping Avith the water. .Another of the Terawhiti's pumps is being connected np for use if found necessary.' The Avater m this hold has been taken down 17ft., and there is still .another 18ft. to go.
