WELLINGTON, this day. In the Appeal Court Sir Robert Stout, ;Chief Justice, and Justices Williams, iEdAvards, Cooper and Chapman sat this morning to hear an application from the jWellington District Law -Society for an jorder to- strike John G. D. Stevens, of jOtaki, off the roll of solicitors, upon Ithe ground of unprofessional conduct m 'respect to the following : On 24th October, 1910, while acting ostensibly* for fa native Avoman, but really m the interests of one. East, he applied, to the •Public Trustee for a loan to a native of s-1000, upon the security of certain land! jbelonging to her, representing the. money was required for the purpose of improving land. By means of such representations Stevens induced the trustee to grant a loan, whereas the money was intended for the purchase of a share m an 'invention for indicating the position of sunken vessels, m which^ Stevens ahd others Avere interested. It was also alleged that Stevens induced the native to pay £800 out of the loan for a share m the patent. The case is proceeding.
