Kaiser's threat to (smash the Constitution of AlsaceLorraine and incorporate it with Prussia. It, was the last day of the session, and the Socialists a again took the opportunity of making an attack on the Emperor. Herr Ledebour made a speech of unparalleled violence, stating that if an English King had said what the Kaiser did the nation would have either smashed his throne or confined him m soma silent Balmoral Castle,\as the Turks did Abdul Hamid. A dignified reply to the debate was made by the Imperial Chancellor. Enthusiastic cheers greeted the Chancellor's declaration from all parties except the Socialists, who laughed scornfully. ■
