■'V ... PARIS 'May %s.',. An interesting . competition is to be' held m Paris on June 2, with the object of demonstr ating whether a man can fly by his own efforts without the aid of a motor. Tt is ' suggested that his propeller may be driven by pedalling as m a cycle,, or that some form- of cycle may be fitted with planes. A prize of £400 will be awarded to the 'first person who flies. 33ft with his own power. In order "to ensure that no assistance is derived from the wind, the flight must be immediately repeated m the opposite direction. One hundred and twenty-three persons, including several professional cyclists and two women, have already entered foi' the competition. A further prize of £4000 has been offered for a one man-power flight from Paris to Versailles, a distance of seven miles.
