BIG LINER'S PERIL.
Only 240 miles from the; spot where the Titanic sank the Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Britain had a narrow escape of s sharing the fate of ■the'- WTiite Star leviathan. DuringV 7a-" dense fog the look-out man sighted a big iceberg directly ahead. Instantly the engines 'were reversed, the helm avas put hard over, and the ship swung v^n,- barely escaping disaster.
