(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A public meetjngof' citizens of Auckland was held last night to consider the question of establishing Auckland commarid of the, Legion of Frontiersmen. Among the speakers were. Mr Massey and Professor W. T, Mills. When Mr Massey came to address the meeting a small discordant element m the r,ear of the hall endeavored to interrupt the proceedings, his references to compulsory military , training meeting: with especial displeasure! Mr Massey said he was there, not so much to make speeches as to show his * sympathy with the movemerit. He was glad to observe the interest m it which was awakening throughout the province, significant as it was of an Imperial spirit throughout the Empire.. It had never been suggested that we should levy war,, but what was essential was that we should be ready* m case of need to help to ! keep the British flag flying. "The nations are arming, arid we must set ourselves seri^us^y te'. consider why. We have only to -sec the preparations being made ia other- countries .to realise how far offis the time of -universal peace. It is, under these circumstances, the duty of every citizen of Empire to db his best for his Empire m whatever direction he can. - (Applause.) Even physical disability should not render people useless: for the purposes of the Legion, since a good example to others is of the utmost value here." The following resolutions . were carried: "That this meeting of citizens qf Auckland endorses the movement for the establishment of a command of the Legion of ' Frontiersmen m the province, expresses hearty approval of the aims and objects of the Legion, and commends it to the notice of the people of New Zealand ; that a provisional Committee be set up to arraneg the preliminary work of organisation of the Legion, and together with those who have applied, or who are applying at this meeihg, for enrolment forms, be appointed a general * provisional committee to carry on till ■■» - -" — ■-—-...» i-.^. t»Ktn.Kl i shed .
