Captain Maire,;the' president of the League of Largo Families, had convoked a mass meeting iof the members of the league m theVsquar.e iri front of the Invalides for 3, o'clock, and long before the time fixed a, large crowd assembled ; not all of them, however-; could lay claim to being fathers, of large families. At 3' o'clock the members of the union, headed by a nrimber, of children, started m procession to the Quai d'Orsay. Half a- do»en members of the league who, accompanied by sympathetic 'deputies and senators, formed a deputation had % very friendly reception from M. Poincare,*the Premier, Avho told them that the Qoy-ernment ( was very interested m tho matter of largo families.
