A very fine specimen of the Maori axe was found on the Ringway estate (Southland) last Aveek. It is fashioned out of a particularly fine transparent greenstone, and is an interesting relic, inasmuch that it possibly marks the route of somo conquering band of natives from some other [part of the South Island, perhaps those Avho drove the remnants of. the supposed lost tribe up towards Manapouri and Te Anau. The nurse, the mistress, the cook, and the maid all wear our natty white linen aprons. A grand, half-crown's worth. — ■ At M. NeilTa,* V '
