There was a rainfall of 0.17 inch at Wanganui last night, and of 0.22 inch at Wellington, where there was a" frost this morning. STATE OF THE SEA. • Cape Maria to-day reported a heavy sea, rough, Tauranga, East Cape, and • Gisborne moderate, Napier smooth, Cape Palliser heavy south-east swell, Cape Campbell considerable, Timaru smooth, Oamaru and Blulf heavy; Hokianga, Kaipara and Manukau bans rough. New Plymouth rough, Wanganui bar and "Farewell Spit moderate, Westport. and G rey mout h con siderable. WEATHER FORECAST. Last night's report stated : "Present indications are for westerly and southerly winds, strong to gale, with cold, showery and changeable weather. The barometer will probably rise everywhere." • To-day's forecast states: '•Southerly moderate to strong, squally at times; weather probably cool and changeable, and probably a very cold night; glass rise; tries high; sea rough off shore."
