(Per Press Association.) ■ AUOKLAND, last niarht. , The Arai correspondent of the Herald telegraphed late to-night that an attempt I had bee^i mad,e to destroy the mail coach there by. fire, but had failed. Kerosene was sprinkled on boxes of butter m the coach, but the ilames were extinguished with buckets of water. An attempt was also made to blow up a local store owned by the coach proprietor, but this also'--- failed. Details are meaare but detectives ore investigating.
