ARBITRATION V. FEDERATION OF LABOR.

Qis J borne Industrial Union of Waterside Workers last evening, the poll being to decide whether the' union should cancel its : registration under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, with a view 1 \o joining the Federation of Labor movement. , The voting ■ resulted as follows : -rFor Arbitration Court. 58 For Federation of Labor ... 55 Informal ' ' ... ... ... 1 Tvhe union therefore decided to adhere to ihe present conditions under the Arbitration ,(jb t urt . by a narrow margin of three votes!' It was agreed that a further 'ballot on the subject should be taken at a lajer date. Subsequently Mr Blair, formerly of W.dihi, a delegate of l the Federation of Labor, who has come .to reside here, addressed the meeting in the interests of the Federation, contending that it/ had been responsible for the rise in wage.B, / that had taken place. Mr Oass, president of the local iranon, defended the case "for the Arbitration Court, maintaihing that better results would be obtained under that system. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Blair.
