LINEAL DESCENDANT' OF THREE SPEAKERS. y LONDON, Qctober 26. Ths Earl of Onslow died at Beechworth, Hampstead, the residence of • his elder son, Viscount Cranley. He had been ill for spme months, but there was a slight improvement m his condition last week, and ho was removed toHamp- . stead. j Lord Onslow, who was m his fiftyninth year, has been Chairman of Committers, House of Lords, since 1905. He had previously held' maiiy ministerial appointments, among them the following : — Under-Secretary for the Colonies (1887-8, 1900-3). Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (1888-9). Under-Secretary for India (1895-1900). President of the Board of Agriculture (1903-5). He was Governor and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand frbm 1888 until 1892. His younger son — the Hon. Huia Onslow — was born m New Zealand, and was made a chief by the Maoris during the first y-eai* of his life. Ono of- his hobbies was driving, and he rarely misesd a meet of the Coaching Club or the Four-in? Hand ' Club. Viscount Cranley, who suoceeds to tlie earldom, is : thirty-four years of age. • He married Lord Poltimore's only daughter five years ago.
