ELECTION CAMPAIGN.
(Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., last night. Wm. Thomson, farmer, of Linton, an
nounces that he intends to contest the Palmerston seat at the general election as an Independent. TIMARU, October 13. Mr W. Jeffries, Avho headed the jioll at the first ballot of last election, opened his campaign for Temuka seat as an Oppositionist m Temuka to-night. He spoke m favor of the freeholders, Elective Council. Public Service Board, and said he would give a fair trial to the Vaile raihvay system.
Mr Harry de Lautour addresses a meeting at Ormond on Monday night.
