A philatelic congress and exhibition of stamps is to be , held in Sydney from 12th to 21st of October. The suggestion has received the support of four societies in Australia and New Zealand, which represent a membership of about 500. . A number of gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded at the exhibition, and a souvenir stamp is to be prepared, of which it is intended to circulate about 60,000. His Majesty the King. is an enthusiastic stamp collector, and has become at patron of the Philatelic Club in Sydney. In Australia there are some fine collections, including one belonging to Mr H. L. White, of Belltress, N.S.W., the value of which is variously estimated at . from £20,000 to £30,000.' It is expected that collections will be sent to the exhibition from all parts of the world.
