NON-COMBATANTS.
(Special to Herald.)
CHRISTCHURCH, this day
At a meeting of the Baptist Lay Preachers' Association of Christchurch, the following resolution was unanimously passed : "That this Association, recognising the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ to be directly opposed to every form of militarism and the bearing of Arms by his disciples, not only deplores and condemns the attitude of the Ministers' Association of Christchurch, and the churches that" have fostered and abetted the spirit of jinjoistic militarism, instead of strenuously opposing it from the beginning, but desires to emphatically protest m the name of righteousness against the Government Act authorising compulsory military training under penalty, and further calls u|xm all who love the Lord Jesus to bind themselves together, and passively resist the Government or any other body whose laws and requirements are m opposition to the principles of the Christian faith."
