PELORUS JACK.
(Per Prewi' Association.) • WELLINGTON, last night. In refercnco to tho-roport of a dead fish having been found, believed to be Polorus Jack, it is stated by tho officers on. the Pateona, Avhich arrived m. Wellington to-night, that.Pelorus Jack was seen on Saturday afternoon as usual when' the Pateena was on tho passage from Nolson to Picton, and on Monday night tho look-out man on the Pateona saw Jack accompanying tho vessel from 20 past 9 to 10 minutes to 10. Polorus Jack was also seen by some passengers.This afternoon Polorus Jack Avas not seen by anyone on tho Pateena, but this is not unusual, as Jack has frequently been absent during the past few months. NELSON, last night. The Colonist is m the position to contradict the. report as to the death of Pelorus Jack. Mr W. T. Bond, of Nelson,. Avho returned homo by the Pa-, teena to-day, states that he and others saw /Jack m the AVater on Monday night, and that he folloAved the Pateena for miles. Mr Bond has seen him many times, but never saAv'him so frisky as he was on Monday night.
