THE TRAIHING SCHEME.

Alajpr-UeneiaJ IJodley stating, that, with a, desire to .show their sympathy with the defence training scheme, they will grant the: use of . their grounds and furniture fo the military camp free of charge. { , ( Major-Greneral Godley has replied, thanking the stewards. • for their courtesy and expressing the great indebtedness which all ranks of the defence force pwedthem /or their kindness and sym:{^H'thy..; • , , . . Lord Islington's private secretary has wntten-io, Major-General Godley as follows: "1 am instructed by the Governor to 'convey ,tb, you arid ask you to trans' mit to Oolonel Head and the officers arid, non-commissioned officers- -Under his command at the camp of instruction his Excellency's high .appreciation of the military efficiency displayed by all ranks. During his visit to the camp on Saturday his Excellency was greatly impressed .by the admirable manner m which 1 the attack was delivered m the mprning proceedings, also the smart and efficient manner m which both company and troop drill was performed m the afternoon. His Excellency is sttre that All who witnessed the day's proaeedings mjist, with him, have realised that jo high a standard can only have been attained by the most careful training and assiduous application m camp during the past two months.
