His Worship said he did not see any difficulty m settling the matter if the parties would only be reasonable. Mr Stock ac quiesced, and said he had no objection to Mr Holden being 'appointed to adjudicate upon the matter of the line of fence, but there was the question of repairs. It was agreed that plaintiff repair the fence, defendant to pay his quota of the cost, and that Mr Holden be appointed to decide the line of deviation. Advice has been received of the reappointment of Mr C. R. Spragg to the position of inspector at. the local abattoirs, subject to the usual medical examination. McMahon arrived by the boat this morning with the films of the John-son-Jeffries fight, which are to be shown at His Majesty's Theatre on Monday and Tuesday nights. Mr A. Forrest, * who lectures on the picture, also arrived. Mr J. C. Williamson's representative has made arrangements with the railway department to run a special train from Gisborne at Waikohu and Otoko, after the performance of "The Lion and The Mouse" on Wednesday night.' A trial run of the machinery at the new Okitu bacon factory at Matawhero will be given on Monday and a few days later it is expected that the factory will be m full swing. Thqre has been a largely increased demand for both bacon and butter from the Okitu factory. The Met weather wnich set m last evening caused Messrs Mac Donald and Ross, M.sP., to postpone their departure for Opotiki to-day. They will leave on Monday morning if the weather clears sufficiently. The Hon Jas. Carroll's visit to 'lahora has also been postponed. Mr Nosworthy, M.P., has left on a ride to the Bay of Plenty. Satisfactory progress has been made with the plate-laying on the Patutahi tramway. The rail ends are now within sight on the Wairoa road, on the long straight past McLaughlin's. There is a gap of 1_ miles to lay at this point, together with another section at the sandhills at Awapuni. Additional trucks are now available, and should facilitate the work of ballasting. . The anniversary services of the Methodist Church ' are to be celebrated f to-morrow. In the morning a parent's and children's rally is to be held at 11 o'clock, and the special music will include an anthem, and a solo by Miss Gray. At the evening service the anthems "Onward" and '^Hosanna m the Highest" (Stainer) will be rendered, arid Mr Mac Gibbon will sing "As the Heart Panteth." The Rev J. A. Lochore will conduct both services. At 8.15 tbere will be a special anniversary celebration of the communion. Mr J. A. Jones conducts the Te Hapara service at 7 o'clock. A valedictory social was tendered to the Rev. Mr Rawnsley and Mrs Rawhsley by the parishioners of St. Paul's, Wairoa, last week on the occasion of j his departure to take up duties m the Patutahi parish. - During the evening Mrs Sargisson, on behalf of the parishioners, presented the rev. gentleman with an address, accompanied by a purse of sovereigns. The address afso made reference to the good services Tendered by Mrs Rawnsley as organist. They{ trusted that m their new parish Mr and ! Mrs Rawnsley would find a congenial sphere of work, and that they would be happy and prosperous therein. Miss Waldmann, on behalf of the Bible class> presented Mrs Rawnsley with a handsome silver-backed brush. Eulogistic reference both to Mr and Mrs Rawnsley's work was made by Messrs J. Hunter Brown, J. Powdrell, and the Mayor. The rev. gentleman suitably replied. Mr Rawnsley arrived at Patutahi last evening.
