(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. At Te Awamutu George Washington Long was charged with the attempted murder of Thomas Higginson Bond, at Wharepuhanga on February 2nd. It was reported that Bond had sold his farm, and had not been seen since Wednesday. A warrant was issued for his arrest, Long being admitted to bail, self in £100 and two sureties of £50 each. It was alleged for the defence that Bond seriously assaulted Long's wife; that a shot was fired to induce Bond to shoot at Long ; and that if Long had wished he could have caused his shot to be fatalu.
