(Special to Herald.) - NAPIER, this day. 'Ihe dty Baud had a good trip down m the Wimmera last night. They proceeded, by train to Palmerston North to-day. .The band played several selections on the deck last evening, and were warmly applauded by the passengers. (Per Press Association.) PAUfERSTON N., last night. MV William Short, the King's Trumpeter, arrived to-day to judge the band contest.' While being shown round by the Mayor, he visited the Horticultural Society's show, just opened. Finding it m need of funds, lip volunteered to give a recital there to-morrow evening. ...
