GERMANY AND BRITAIN. (Press Assn. — By Telegraph — Copyright) BERLIN, March 14. Prince Henry of Prussia, speaking ut the Asiatic Society's banquet at Hamburg; said he left Britain after his recent visit Avith a grateful heart. Hospitality, affection, and frankness Avere the • foundation Avhereon the life of their English cousins rested. He had been to Britain m an unofficial capacity, but had spoken to many influential persons there, and he assured his hearers that Britain offered to Germany an honorable and sincere friendship. The idea of aggressive action was completely absent from the minds of Government circles m Britain, but that friendship rested on reciprocity, and nothing must be omitted serving to strengthen it. Confidence begets confidence. Germany :fought shoulder to shoulder Avith the British' in the Far; East,. and learned to respect them. The interests of both Avere best promoted , by reciprocal confidence. Officers of the navy were sincere m their friendly feelings, but the merchant, like his military and naval comrades, had a social duty to discharge. The Nord Deutsche Zeitung notes Mr , McKenna's' cordial references to Herr Von Bethmann • HpllAyeg's declaration, and adds that, as, Britain considers only her o\yn need, so the construction of the German fleet is based solely on the vieAV that, defence and shelter "must be' created for her sea interests that have grown to great- importance and for Germany's : existence as a State. ; „-.
