The Gisborne Marathon race take*, plifoe from Ormond, on, Thursd.ayj the 25th inst. Twenty -five competitors have entered), inoiucUng the most prominent distance runners of the district, and as these meri havei been m active training for the event, fast time is expected. Competitors will leave Mr Howard's shop, per brake, at 2.30' p.m., and will be despatched on their run to Gisborae at 4 p.m. It is expected that the first man will arrive about 5.30 p.m., when it can be safely stated large crowd will have congregated/. Mr Con. Neenan will despatch the me^p on their,; long .run., 'arid the brake will follow the Trice. Mr D. J. Baxiry has kindly donated ft. tronhy for the event, which is creating considerable interest.
