WORK OFFERED. TO ALL. NO RELIEF WORKS . (Per Press Association. ) AUCKLAND, this day. < A deputation of unemployed waited on Sir Joseph ' Ward on Saturday night. The whole question of immigration was traversed.! It was stated to Sir Joseph Ward that there were 500 unemployed m Auckland. ' He promised that Work would be found on reproductive works now going on for all who wished to take it, 'and advised . the men to register, at the- labor Mrreau. '' He ; said that th^' High Commissionei* only assisted agricul- | tural immigrants. He dwelt on the importance of immigration jto a young country. No doubt, he safd, some of the shipping companies were inducing people to; take passages to J>Te\v Zealand, and p'erlia'ps some of the charitable in-, stitu'tiotis afc~ Home assisted others. Re(presentations would, he said^ be mSde to the shipping companies , on the matter.. .He declined to startor'elief Works'.' i After hearing .an uhehiplciyed dep'ti;tation to-day, the s Mayor, Mr- Myers,enquired' from the Labor ' Bureau the condition of th*e labor market. He was informed that employmerit ..had recently been found for 236 men, and there were now .- 172 on .the books.
