CISBORNE-NAPIER RAILWAY.

SURVEY TO BE MADE.

(From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. This morning the Hon. J. Carroll and Mr Eraser, in an interview with the Minister of Railways, again ventilated the subject of the Napier-Gisbome railway. They urged tliat initiatory steps be commenced without delay. The Minister expressed his appreciation of the necessity of the work, and acknowledged that the request of those interested, viz., for the completion of a detailed survey, was paramount. From years of experience the Minister expressed the opinion that much of the delay caused in the past in the construction of our railways was attributable to the absence of a comprehensive and detailed survey. With regard to the special matter of a Napier-Gisborne coupling the work would be taken in hand this summer • and pushed on to a successful consummation.
