HEAVY RAIN.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A heavy gale blew all Sunday night. The weather conditions are sti'll very stormy, causing much delay to shipping.. ■•'■■■; A telegram from Paeroa states that the river is bank high, all the low-lying lands being flooded. NAPIER, this clay. There was a phenomenally heavy downpour of rain last night, but no damage is reported. v HASTINGS, this day. Torrential rain fell during the early hours this morning, and by 6 o'clock the lower part of the town were flooded. In Heretaunga. street, near the Princess Theatre, the roadway and footpath were submerged. Vehicles plied, carrying people across the flood. The waters subsided very rapidly') not doing much serious damage. The weather is now fine. WAIPAWA. this day. Incessant rain has fallen the last 24 hours, and has caused a flood in the river. The low-lying country is submerged. Minor damage to bridges is reported. The weather is now clearing. Blenheim this morning reported that the river was rising. .
