POVERTY BAY V. EDEN (AUCKLAND). The following arc a few notes on the doings of the playora representing the two elevens : — EDEN. G. Mills: The veteran of tho team; has played representative cricket for Otago and Auckland ; is one of the most experienced all-round cricketers in New Zealand ; is a sound bat and slow tricky bowler; was one of Eden's mainstays this season.

F. Taylor : One of Eden's first eleven colts ; Relf thinks a lot of him ; is very free in action as a bat; fine field.

R. Gordon : Another fine colt ; plays Ist junior; good, sill round and reliable. Murdoch : Eden's first eleven ; fast bowler, also a decent bat.

W. Somervell : A batsman who has reached the century this season at Auckland, and has made over 400 runs in ls>t junior cricket ; a brilliant field and fair change bowler. A. Brown : An old Auckland rep. ; keeps in the first junior team to allow ; colts a chance ; is tit for any New Zealand eleven ; very sound batsman ; is; also | a curly leg-break bowler. Fred. Brown : Another brilliant first junior ; played senior cricket at Sydney ; does not take a very active part in 'the game ; is a very graceful batsman ; cuts beautifully and fields wellX T. Buckley: The team's wicketkeeper; very brilliant; also good bat. N.B.— Either Hobson or Mills will captain the team, which is a. very strong batting one. POVERTY BAY. A. Young : Taruheru's brilliant lefthand bat; lias made over 350 runs at an average of about 40, also taken over 35 wickets at small cost; is a brilliant field in any position.

C. Lasker : Taruheru's brilliant hitter ; has over 40 runs' average and in. best form ; also brilliant cover or mid-off.

G. Harker: Wanderers' champion; top average for club in batting andlbowl: ing ; has made a century in rep. cricket this season; a brillisuit slip. A. M. Howden : Now resident here, late North > Shore, Auckland; one of New Zealand's best slow • bowlers, if not best; good bat and field.

R. G. Hallamore : United's leading batsman ; fine club average, and also good change bowler and brilliant wicketkeeper.

W. Gibson : Last 'year's champion bat ; just struck for last two innings 68 and 50 not out ; is .- very careful ; good first wicket ; alsoobrilliant out-field.

' J. Gibson : Thursday champion bat; has , average of 40; brilliant field any position.

C. Reynolds : The left-hand bowler , of the' team; has taken over 40 wickets this season ; also sound bat.

H. R. Vallance : Late of South Canterbury, and Taranaki; last two scores 30 not out and 69 not tout; a fine, fast bowler and dashing field. • J. Pine: .Te RauV great right-hand medium off -break bowler; also fine free bat; has taken 40 wickets at cost of trifle of 7; very puzzling delivery. R. W. Cary : Second wicket-keeper ; good bat.
