Napier reported this morning a moderate sea and heavy rain during the night; East Cape and Tiritiri also reported moderate seas; whilst north of Auckland, on both coasts, the sea was reported to be heavy. At Castlepoint there was a heavy sea running, also at Cape Campbell and Kaikoura, where a heavy gale and rain during the night were reported. Christchurch also reported heavy rain during the night. At Port Chalmers the sea- was moderate, and at Bluff smooth. On the West Coast the sea was rough at New Plymouth ; smooth at Farewell Spit, and there was a slight swell at West-port.
