ALLEGED INFANTICIDE.

Fairtidale , whose headless body is alleged to have been found m the harbor recently. She was remanded for eight day's. Accused has stated she is the wife of, a medical man m Ithe Cbngo. Her f ath.e^ is 'said to be a resident m the Waikato. She has latterly been staying at a boarding-house m Symonds street -with her two .phildreni Asliocking discovery was made at Ponsonby, Auckland, oh Friday evening. While/some boys were playing oh the beach at the foot of Sentinel road they came across the headless body of an infant, which had evidently : been cast up by the tide. The body <■ was that of a female infant, about a > month old, and was clad m a light {ainglet, with two pieces of flannelette around th© lower ex-, tremities. Ib had evidently bebn. m tbe water, for about a fortnight. The 'facts that the child could Jnot have got into, the water of its own accord, and that "it., was so scantily clad , would seem to poi ri t .'to it being a. deliberate case of infanticide. How the head' came to %c severed from the body is a matter for conjecture, but it is probable that it was 1 - bitten off by a shark.
