A girl named Olsen was committed for trial for attempted arson by getting fire to. the West Clive hotel. WELLINGTON, last night. The Council of Churches to-night passed a resolution approving of the new Gaming Act. .The ' Italian Consul at Wellington is advised that his Royal Highness Prince Augusta Ruspoli has left Italy on a. tour which is to include New Zealand. Captain J. E. Westrup, an old identity m shipping circles, died at his residence.. Wellington, yesterday morning. Deceased was born m Nelson m 1850, and went to sea when he was 10 years old. About '35 years ago Captain Westntp gained ;his master's certificate. In his time he, served as captain of several sailing vessels, and for nine years was well known'as skipper of the steamship Waitapu. He had been with the Pa tea Shipping Company • since its inception, and "was also a shareholder.
