THE GAMING ACT.

(Per Pre*e Association.) WELLINGTON this day. A deputation of bookmakers waited on the Attorney-General to-day U> complain about the manner m which the new Ctaming Act had been administered by the Feilding Racing Club, and to ask tlbat the law should be carried out m thespirit intended by the Legislature. The deputation asked that a mandate should be issued to racing clubs compelling them, to administer the Act fairly. The bookmakers protested against being charged £20 a day, and also- against- being i*oped jn m an enclosure. Dr Findlay, m reply, said he wanted to explain tfiat bookmakers had no right to expect aaid would not get any indulgence from the Government. Toe duty of the Government would not permit it to show any favor m any shape or form to any agency of gambling.- He quoted Acts to show the Government had power to cancel or refuse to issue thp license for Lite totalisator, and he indicated that m the event of a club imposing or asking bookmakers to observe unreasonable conditions he would advise Cabinet to have the club's totalisator permit cancelled.
