WHY WERE THE OFFICERS PLACED ON HALF-PAY. (Press Assn.— By Telegraph.— Copyright) (Received December 3, 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, December 2. The Wat Office states that the recent placing, of officers Of the Fifth Lancers upon hair pay, is not due to causes detrimental to their character. Their services will be utilised 'elsewhere. The regiment is not inefficient. , . ' . .
[A previous cable stated that the reason for placing the officers on half-pay was owing to the inefficiency of the (regiment, which is now denied. The denial is a tardy one, and. with it no reason is given for the reduction to half-pay.]
