CAS EXPLOSION.

(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Shortly after 9 o'clock this morning one of the clerks engaged by Messrs'lzard nnd -Loughnan, solicitors, opened the strong room door and struck a match to light the gas jet inside the room. An explosion followed, and a broad sheet of flame shot out, singeing the young man's face and clotliing, and setting fire to the documents. Beyond tiie burning of some papers, however, the fire was extinguished without serious damage.
