The annual meeting of the Poverty Bay A, and P. Association was held this afternoon at the Farmers' Union rooms, Dunlop's building. There "was a- large attendance, the President (Mr T. Holden) being m the cliair. The report and balance-sheet (as already printed) were presented and read by the secretary (Mr H. M .Porter), the assets exceeding the liabilitis by £763 13a lid, and current subscriptions yet to j come m. — The President invited any questions, and, m reply to Mr Wachsmann, the secretary said the building was insured. — Mr Lysnar inquired whether "sundry debtors, £128 55," should remain as assets; it would ibe 'better to lrave the amount struck out; altogether than" have an asset carried forward that was not real. — The secretary said that had now been reduced to £70, and he believed they -would not lose £5 of that.— The President: We went through it very carefully; it is really sound. He moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet. --Seconded by Mr Geoffrey Maclean, and carried. Mr Ewen Cameron proposed that Mr J-. Bolden be, re-elected Chairman. Gray said ; Mr Holden had held the pceition five years, and had done really well ; he did not like opposing Mr Holden, but held that the position should go round, and would therefore propose Mr Frank Barker for the seat.— Mr & Neerian. seconded the motion.— -Messrs Symes nnd Kells were appointed scrutineers. vs The Chairman announced: that sub-' scriptions must be paid up to qualify for a vote.— 'A member : A guinea a voter (Laughter.) Mr Symes announced that Mr Holden had been re-elected. That gentleman briefly returned thanks, saying he liQpe<]. that everything would work smoothly m the future, and that their friendly, contest •would not lead to any friction. Mr Jex-Blake said he -would be ineligible, ihayinjj been absent so many meetings.— Mr Wachsmann said it would! be no use giving leave of. absence to' anyone if that disqualified him.— A lively discussion ensued on the subjeot of the rules, ;Mr Gray saving that it was a matter for the committee, and " having heard the remarks, would no. doubt give it attention.— The matter then dropped.
