HARBOR BOARD.

— -*_-: The sitting of the Harbor Board yesterday afternoon closed at 4.45. Considerable discussion took place on the subject of the contract for the supply of timber, the company tendering lowest being adversely reported on by the Overseer owing to the delay in supplying a previous order. There being a difference of £232 in the whole, Mr Lysnar pressed the matter to a vote, but members held th© opinion that the saving was a baga. telle compared with the loss that would be occasioned by delay, and supported the Overseer, the tender of Peacocke and Co. being accepted for kauri and of Evans, Nield and Co. for totara. Tenders for the timber was as follows : H..J. Peacocke and 00. £818, Alpha Sawmilling Co., kauri £833 totara £1470^£2303; Evans, Nield and Co., kauri £919, totara £1600— £2519; W.A. Hardwood Co. (karri only) timber at 22s per 100ft, £502 14s, and sawn timber at 4s 2d per foot lineal, £839 12s.
