Mr B. Magee, a popular member of Marion postal staff, has been appointed postmaster at Port Awanui. The Auckland City Council received 89 applications for the -position of electrical engineer for ihe city under the electrio light and powep scheme. Burglars have been at work at Wellington during th© past week or two. The houses of Messrs G. Fitzgerald, L. Blundell, and T. 0. McCarthy (all well-known citizens) liave been broken into and gold watches, valuable jewellery, money, and silver plate stolen.
