WRECK OF THE SURPRISE.

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. A telegram from Tairua states that a messenger from Ohrui has just ridderi over ind reported that tlie scow 'Surprise went ishore on the rocks, about a mile from tlie north end of Ohui beach, and is a total -wreck. The captain, mate, and two seamen ar e supopsed to have been drowned. A fifth hand got ashore, and found has way to Ohui, wJiere he is being well looked after by Air Jas. McGregor. He is badly knocked about,, and rambles a little in his talk, but is expected to be well in a day or two. His name is Harry Jackson. From what can be gathered from liis account, the scow dragged her anchors right foom Skipper Island, and went ashore on the coast earlv on Sunday morning. The names of the crew on the 23rd of last month were as follows: ,J. T. Gallienne- (skipper), who was taken on in. place of K. W. Oliffe, who was sick whep the vessel jvas List here; H. W. Jackson, aged 20,'"\of Norfolk Island ; A. Steurart, aged 19; E. Johansen, aged 19; W. Kellv, aged 17. The last two members of the crew were signed oh when the vessel was here last month.
